Grand Opening Celebration
Grand Opening Scheduled for Lyons Public Library
The Lyons Public Library has completed its move to its new location at 279 8th Street. The move to the vacant Methodist Church allows for more Internet computer stations, reading areas and a cozier, more open atmosphere.
If you haven’t stopped in yet, make sure you check out the beautiful mural in the Children’s area. With whimsical drawings of local places and detailed scenes from various children’s literature, the mural is indeed enchanting. Local artist, Denise Harrell, will be on hand for the Grand opening on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 1:00 pm. Refreshments will be served by the Friends of Lyons Library & the Lyons Library Board. This will be an excellent opportunity to meet the Library Board Members and to complete a survey to express any concerns or ideas pertaining to the library.
Don’t have a library card? With proper I.D., you can obtain a one. Lyons Library is one of 18 member libraries in the Chemeketa Cooperative Regional Library Service area throughout Polk, Yamhill, Marion, and a small part of Linn counties. “Member libraries share resources that provide our patrons needs without having to have the additional funds and space. “This is a win-win situation for our patrons” stated Librarian Brenda Harris.
The Friends of Lyons Library will hold a book sale Friday & Saturday from 10:00 – 4:00 pm in the “community center” in the basement of the Library.
The Library hours are Tuesday – Friday from 1:00 – 6:30 and Saturday from 10:00 – 3:30, and are closed Sunday and Monday. For more information, contact the library at 503-859-2366.
